Pete Sell was born in Bay Shore, New York on August 25, 1982. He grew up as the youngest child of a tight-nit family. Like a lot of kids in a big city, Pete liked to push the envelope on just how far he could go. He did a lot of typical juvenile things like sneaking out, skipping school, but more for attention than anything else.

As Pete grew older, he began to grow in to his huge ego and found that he had a lot of natural athletic abilities. Once in high school, having never played competitive sports before, he tried out for both the football and wrestling team and made the starting squad. After a very successful stint (and at a very small 135 pounds), Pete fell back in to his childhood ways and became more interested in being the class clown and the kid everyone wanted to be and quit playing sports.

It wasn't until his senior year of high school that Pete began watching the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Out of pure chance, Pete heard through the grapevine that Renzo Gracie had opened the Babylon Academy, a Mixed-Martial Arts camp, in Long Island. Pete went to a few classes and began training with Matt Serra, who he quickly became best friends with. Shortly after, Pete was a guest of Matt's at one of his UFC events and Drago was born.

Only 19 years old, Pete agreed to take his first fight and won in impressive fashion. Over the next several years, Pete continued training with his good friend and legendary coach and rattled off an impressive 5-fight win streak to begin his career. The Ultimate Fighting Championship and took notice, granting the young Sell an opportunity to take on one of his fellow hometown New Yorkers, 6-time UFC veteran, the legendary Phil Baroni. Pete shocked the world and submitted Phil with a guillotine choke and earned the respect and admiration of many fans.

The UFC was impressed as well, offering Pete a contract and an invitation to compete in the Ultimate Fighter 4. Upon conclusion of the show, Pete continued to train and fight hard and has always left the crowd feeling like they got their money's worth. Expect that work ethic to be what drives this young warrior to one day become the UFC Middleweight Champion.
